CA 500 new timeline

CA 500 short film project

Develop and finish a SIMPLE short 0:10 - 0:20 animated film. The film should contain the following:

  • - A simple, interesting story or scenario
  • - 1 modeled + textured character
  • - 1 modeled + textured environment w/ props
  • - character rig
  • - simple, believable animation
  • - lighting that enhances the mood and feel of the piece
  • - camera angles that help tell the story.

The film should NOT contain the following:

  • - complex characters with realistic/detailed geometry – no real humans or animals! Think simple + cartoon
  • - complex animations, such as walks + runs
  • - a complex story – just pick a moment of interest – beginning, middle and end!

Week 2 – story dev, modeling lecture. DUE :Story idea due at end of class.

Week 3 – DUE: character designs, 2d animatic and rough (proxy) models due.

Week 4 – DUE: environment model w/ textures

Week 5 – DUE: final character models due w/ textures

Week 6 - OUT, sub for rigging workshop.

Week 7 – DUE: character rigging /skinning due.

Week 8 – DUE: 3d animatic due + lighting key renders

Week 9 – DUE: animation 1st pass due

Week 10 – DUE: final animation review + key lighting renders

Week 11 – DUE: final project due
